Conditions of Admission
The terms on which an admission to No. I is sold. Written to be read.
Plain English, and no longer than it needs to be.
Who you are buying from
An admission is sold by the organisers of The Mercantile, who arrange a mercantile evening. Buying an admission means you accept these terms.
The event
The Mercantile, No. I is held on Thursday, 3 September 2026 at Rowington Village Hall, Warwick CV35 7DB, in two sittings: Early admission, 17:00–19:00. Later admission, 19:30–21:30. An admission admits its holder to one sitting, being the sitting chosen when it was booked, and the hall is closed between 19:00 and 19:30.
Rates
There are two tickets. The Passbook Admission is £18 for one admission and includes everything listed against it at the point of booking. The Guest Admission is free, needs no invitation, and includes what is listed against it, which is deliberately less.
A paid admission is transferable to another person but is not refundable. Orders are limited to 10 admissions; for a larger party, write to us before booking.
No admission is sold at the door, and nobody is admitted without one. The Guest Admission may be upgraded to The Passbook on the night. An upgrade taken on the night costs a little more than the Passbook does when it is booked here, and is paid at the door rather than through this site. The rule is simply that booking ahead is the cheaper way to take it.
Payment
Payment is taken by Stripe. We do not see, handle or store your card details. Your admission is confirmed when Stripe confirms the payment, and a receipt is sent by Stripe to the address you give them.
Capacity
Admission to No. I is limited to 300. When that number is reached, no further admissions are sold. Capacity is counted on confirmed payments only.
If you change your mind, or cannot come
Admissions are transferable but not refundable.
An admission may be passed to another person at any time and at no charge. Write to us through Correspondence with your entry code and the name of whoever is coming instead. We will move it across and send them a code of their own.
An admission to a dated event is not covered by the usual fourteen-day right to cancel, which does not apply to leisure events held on a specific date. That is the law rather than our preference, and it is the reason an admission can be given away but not returned. If we cancel or move the event, clause 7 applies and you are refunded.
If we change or cancel the event
If we cancel No. I, every admission is refunded in full. If we move it to another date, you may keep your admission for the new date or take a full refund.
We are not able to refund travel, accommodation or anything else you arrange around the event.
Workshop places
A workshop place with Studio Gallimore costs £48 a person, in addition to your admission. It is chosen on the booking form and paid for in the same payment; it is not a ticket to the event and does not admit anyone on its own.
A place moves with the admission it was bought with, so an admission passed to another person carries its workshop place across. If we cancel or move the event, or the workshop itself cannot run, the £48 is refunded in full.
For anything else concerning a workshop place, write to us through Correspondence before booking and we will answer plainly.
The merchants
The merchants listed are those settled at the time of publication. Merchants occasionally have to withdraw. A change to the merchants is not in itself a reason for a refund, and no single merchant is a condition of admission.
On the evening
Please behave in a way that lets other people enjoy the evening. We may refuse or withdraw admission, without a refund, for behaviour that puts others or the merchants at risk, or that makes the room unpleasant.
Merchants sell their own goods on their own terms. Anything you buy at a stall is a contract between you and that merchant, and questions about it should go to them. Your legal rights against them are unaffected.
Photography
We may take photographs of the evening for later editions. If you would rather not appear in them, tell a member of staff on the night and we will make sure you do not.
Liability
We do not limit our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited in law. Beyond that, our liability in connection with an admission is limited to what you paid for it.
Law, and how to reach us
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
